Metro’s plan for safety and less congestion includes improvements to the SB I-605 at the South Street Off-Ramp. As part of the I-605 Hot Spots Program, this project adds a right turn lane, and a standard deceleration distance for motorists exiting the freeway. At the completion of the Project, two dedicated turning lanes will be available for each movement of traffic. By reconfiguring the South Street southbound off-ramp, the project will help enhance safety, ease congestion, and improve mobility and regional traffic flow.

Status

The one-year project, approximately $33 million construction investment, has begun early pre-construction work activities as of July 15, 2024. At this time, the project is approximately 70-75% complete and is anticipated to be completed in late June/early July 2025.
