Metro has a plan to make it easier to get around LA with better transit across the North Valley. The North San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor Project (North SFV) will improve east-west transit service with better access to jobs, education and essential services.

The North San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor Project consists of an enhanced bus network that will increase connectivity and provide high-quality bus service and transit infrastructure in North San Fernando Valley communities from Northridge on the west through North Hollywood on the east.

The North San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor Project complements other Metro efforts, including the NextGen Bus Plan, East San Fernando Valley Light Rail, North Hollywood to Pasadena BRT, Sepulveda Transit Corridor, G Line (Orange) Improvements, and Metro Micro, to create better public transportation across the valley by adding faster and more reliable bus service.

Status

Measure M dollars will improve North San Fernando Valley by:

Increasing bus frequencies from every 15 minutes to every 10 minutes on Roscoe Bl (Line 152) and Nordhoff St (Line 166), planned for 2024 implementation.
Almost 400 new bus shelters at bus stops lacking shelter throughout the San Fernando Valley, with more significant upgrades at 5 key transfer locations (Roscoe/Reseda, Nordhoff/Lindley, Roscoe/Van Nuys, Nordhoff/Van Nuys, Cal State Northridge University Transit Center) with implementation between 2024 and 2026.
Peak period bus priority lanes on Roscoe Bl west of SR170 to Topanga Canyon where peak period parking restrictions exist today (no lanes on Roscoe at I-405) to be implemented by 2024, with up to 82 bus bulbs at key locations to improve speed and reliability of buses by keeping them in the lane of traffic, with implementation between 2025 and 2027.
Transit signal priority on seven corridors (Roscoe, Lankershim, Sherman Way, Victory, Vanowen, Nordhoff, Reseda) to reduce any delay for buses at intersections to begin implementation by 2025.
75 new zero emission battery electric buses for use on the Roscoe, Nordhoff, Reseda, and Sherman Way lines by 2027, together with 15 bus charging masts.
Fare validation equipment for the rear door of all buses operating in the San Fernando Valley to speed up passenger boarding times, to be implemented on key bus lines in 2024-2025.
